Does anyone have experience with the Chinese made GMB water pump from FCP? They're about half the price of the OEM Aisin (around $45.00. I just ordered one. If there's a consistent bad rap, I'd exchange it and go for the Aisin. Hepu isn't available for my '93 850, so that's not an option.

Make sure that it's not a plastic impeller pump. They are notorious for breaking on BMWs and Chrysler vehicles within a few years

Thanks for the heads up on that. I wouldn't install such a toy. I'll be checking on that tomorrow and post back what I find out.

Dont scrimp on ANY part in the timing belt path. I did a head gasket job and less than 20,000 miles later my new water pump failed. Entire rebuild wasted. If the timing belt touches it, the life of your car is depending on it every minute, and it only take 2 seconds to beat an interference engine to death with a jumped belt.

I am in the pond with turbo turtle, anything hanging on the front of the engine is blue box. Nephews 2000 V70 XC got a new timing belt and water hepu pump in December of 2014, had to replace the pump in February after 20,000 miles due to leaking at the shaft. Did a timing belt and water pump on the S80 last week due to cam seal leakage and nothing went on but blue box components. The blue box cost a little more but the piece of mind is priceless.
