Emission Sensors stuck in "Not Ready" mode
EVAP finally reported at 950 miles - brought it into the shop to get smogged. Found a leak by the back flange of the CAT. Argghhhh!!!
Local shop was very flexible when I suggested to weld a new piece of exhast between the CAT and exhuast pipe. Tech did a great job of welding it in - passed emissions!
50 miles out of the shop and my CEL came back on for a P0172. At least Im good for another 2 years before I need emissions again!!

'97 850 T5, 282K miles and counting.... everyone of them driven by me....
Glad to read you got it to pass! I was having the same issue with my 98 V70. After 300 miles of driving, the monitors were still in not-ready mode according to my two different OBD-II scanners. I finally decided to just take it to a smog place so they could fail it for me and I could get a temp operating permit. The smog tech did the test and said it passed the "functionality" test even though none of the monitors were ready. He said it was the first time he's ever seen a car pass even though none of the monitors were ready. I didn't question it! I had the paper saying it all passed and was on my way out the door with a huge grin on my face!

I too had a looooong wait for the "ecu" to become "ready" 2500 miles. In California, you are allowed to have two not ready systems to pass their smog check. I had two. 4 months later, the two miscreants finally became ready.
I have a 1999 S70 NA.
I have a 1999 S70 NA.
I, too, had similar EGR problem as to the the thread starter. I, first had to clean the MAF sensor, in order to get consistent MAF readings (.55-.75 #/min.). A new rear O2 sensor was done as well.
My 95 850 Volvo Turbo cleared the drive cycle with 2 short highway trips and a couple days of driving.
There is a list of cars excused in CA known as schedule J or Appendix J. a little hunting on will get you to:
the page on the CA DMV site, whish that I had a bookmark.
