Buying a used RWD volvo, which one should I go for?

If you got a 940, make sure it's turbo. As you can see from my signature, I have had a few '95+ 960's. I really do miss my 960 and would buy it back in a second. Those cars are very smooth and if driven right, you can get decent gas mileage. I was getting 25/29. Driving about 40/60 city/highway. One trip from Albuquerque I got 31 mpg. I had to drive 63 mph the entire way but I had the time and needed the money.

As for driving, I have most of my travel records in that car. It will run strong and hard all day. I only sold it to get this wagon I now have from investment standpoint. The rareity of this wagon will hold it's value better and likely sell quicker as it ages. I would buy another one today. I totalled the 1st one, I got the 2nd one just to give to someone (purchased for $500 with a bad water pump), and sold the 3rd to get the wagon.

Here is a list of things the 960 will likely have problems with:
1. Power seats will bind on one or both sides and will not track fore and aft. Easy fix.
2. Sway bar links will likely be worn out and they are easy to replace.
3. Sun roof will likely leak. Easy to reseal.
4. Parking light bulbs crush the contacts and cause all kinds of wierd lighting problems.
5. Ignition switch goes bad, easy fix.
6. Coil packs going out or the wires backing out of the connector.

Other than that I really can't tell you of any common issues.
