I am in the middle of a stage 0 on a car that I also want to keep forever. Things I'm adding/replacing to maintain longevity:
1) PCV, which is a great time to add a phenolic spacer from IPD (VIVA has one to that is smaller and cheaper). I don't know of any specefic gains from the spacer but it's universally reported to cool down the intake mani and cooler is always better for performance and longevity. I plan on replacing the PCV every year. Overkill, yes, but it's a good opportunity to get deep into the engine on a regular basis and see what's going on.
2) IPD performance intercooler w/ samco hoses (intercooler and radiator hoses). They've been selling this intercooler for like 5 years so if it had problems something would have popped up on the forums. I've looked and found no complaints apart from the 8oo$ pricetag. Cheaper ones are on ebay but as they say, buy once, cry once.
3) Tranny cooler. IPD seems to have the best price.
4) All silicone vac lines (from Stylin Motors), including the IAC hose.
5) Fluid wise I will only be using Volvo antifreeze and I'll be adding redline coolant additive to it. Synthetic oil with changes every 3k or so.
6) Little things: Magnetic oil drain plug and IPD's magnet on the OEM oil filter to grab undesirable elements circulating through my engine. Wider rear-view mirror since I do a lot of highspeed merging on the interstates.
I expect needing to replace most suspension elements every 60k or so instead of the 100k they will usually last, or at least remain mechanically sound, if a bit uncomfortable.
Any recommendation on an engine oil cooler?

I forgot to mention I'm preparing for a stage III on the car. Otherwise I couldn't justify all the time and money.
A couple more things. Keep it clean and keep all the exterior stuff working. Mechanics, moms in parking lots, even you, will respect the car more and take better care of it if it looks nice and well-maintained. Lastly, I don't drive the thing unnecessarily and I'm in the middle of cleaning out my tiny 1950's garage so it can stay indoors at night.

Did you change the plugs on your stage 0?
Make sure you gap them appropriately. Even the aftermarket ones that say they don't need to be gapped need to be gapped in our cars. Our engines are picky.

I'm sorry, that's incorrect. If you can see ANY puffing it IS bad. Doesn't matter "if you have to concentrate" it's doing it and needs replacement/cleanings70glt novice[Will] wrote:Thank you. I have yet to do PCV but its not bad, you have to concentrate to see the smoke.system like that. thanks for the advice!

LOL. Does no one look at dates?
I have figured out all (most lol) of these problems. Misfire was solved with new plug wires, and i have replaced the PCV. I have also slapped a 16t on and an ARD Green tune. Car is running great! Albeit a bit smelly
because of the catless exhaust.
Hope you can get your car running well enough for upgrading jtp! Keep me posted on how things are going and what you're planning, I'd love to hear.
Also, jtp, I've read the VS version of that many times. Thanks though
Misfires were solved by this: (same as IPD's, order the 8mm's) http://www.kingsbornewires.com/product. ... egoryId=71
Thanks for the concern guys
