whoa! That's a new one for me...can you shine some light on what a "fluid counter" is and where/how to reset? I see nothing in Vida about that and I have the DiCE unit.regent wrote:If I may chime in, what fazool reminds us about is the following:
If you did not reset the fluid counter after you put in fresh fluid, the "brain" does not know anything about it. Given there is no apparent reduction in performance, there is a chance that the "Trans Service Required" message may be just a 'false positive'
transmission service required, yes it's a 2001...

Shawn,
you have the vida/dice setup and you have not reset the fluid counter yet, you are a bad boy spank yourself
LOL
After you refresh the fluid, go to the TCM advanced tab in vida(with dice attached). There, you reset the fluid counter, erase all the tranny adaptives(to start fresh), then put the tranny in adaptive mode and drive away making sure the tranny shihts smoothly between gears.

Instead of spanking yourself, if you do adaptions, before driving away, make sure you read/print out the adaptation procedure steps in VIDA. It is a little bit more than normal driving
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.

I still need a bit of help understanding this in vida...as I do not see a "TCM advanced tab" anywhere. Do you mean the SOFTWARE tab, and then selecting ADVANCED and then TCM (see screenshot for my view)...or am I in the wrong place?jda2000 wrote:Shawn,

OK, just pulled the code and it's not a fluid reset (although I would still like to know where todo that...)
It came up: TCM-012B Neutral control No neutral control
Is this the neutral stop control checking out, or just taking itself offline?
I've included a screenshot...please ignore the ECM-3310, I'll be putting a new 02 sensor on in the following weeks (per Jimmy) but I don't know what the ECM-530D is, this is a new one!

I'll also add again that it drives no better or worse then prior to the MIL/CSC. In both full automatic and geartronic mode it's happy...and the neutral stop is still felt at stop and go. So this error didn't take the software functionality offline : (
I read somewhere this code can point to replaceable valvebodies, but am curious to all this great helps experience. I need one more year out of this car! If I'm not feeling anything different what would you suggest?

Under Diagnostics/Network, once the network block diagram shows up, you click on the TCM block and you will see the Advanced Tab.
This is how mine works, I have the older version 2010A; your screenshot shows 2011A but should be the same, I think.
Hope this helps you navigate.
Thanks

The no neutral control dtc is a new one on me. I would have to read the code info listed to see what TCM must detect in order to set that code. My seat of the pants assumption would be that it is pulsing the clutch solenoid to a % that should disengage gear and let input drum speed sensor go to engine idle speed or close and it is seeing the speed input at 0 rpm which is what you'd have when it is in gear.
