97 850 has high NO fail CA smog by 100 over max

I believe that if there is a vacuum leak the engine will run lean and the combustion will be hotter too

Can you get a scanner and see the o2 sensor reading maybe if its bad and just read rich the computer will take fuel away from the combustion and run hot

Im just airing my thoughts. When I had my 1977 245 wagon through emission testing, it failed miserably. I pulled out the air filter, filled the tank with 50% ethanol. The emissions were almost not detectable.

Ethanol burns cooler and should therefore also be able to decrease NO levels.

I know this doesnt fix the underlying issue, but could be worth a try.

Glad to know you are close to them. Use to watch IMSA GTP racing so I know of them. Hope they can be helpful!

This guy failed 5 times so there is excellent information on the items to look at. The Fuel Pressure Regulator is one of them besides Fuel Filter and the Injectors.

I just want to confirm what part this is. It looks to be a fuel pressure reguator, it's just down stream of the fuel filter attached to the fuel line, it has a sepperate line going to the gas tank and a vac line that is attached to a line going to the charcoal filter.

I have this one on my 98 S70 T5 Fuel Injector Rail and is it listed under 97 850 also. Not sure how many are on each car or between production years or engine numbers?
