The saga continues, I replaced the fan and the same, fan runs 2-3 seconds and then the evil flashing lights.

Codes 418 and 419 asnd I cannot clear the codes?

Today I removed the ECC controller for one more look. all appears OK. I found a wire loose behind the ECC but none of the connectors seem to be misssing a wire. The wire look as if should belong on the larger of the 3 plugs. Any ideas? I will try to attach a picture of the wayward wire.

Thanks for support

It looks like remnants from an aftermarket stereo as does the bundle of wires next to it.

Just curious, but when you say the ECC doesn't look burnt, do you mean from the outside or have you opened the unit.
Replacing the ECC unit with one that is known to work is less expensive than fan motors and poower resistors. All I mean to say is that it worked for me. Your results may vary.
Good Luck.

Thanks Ben I have looked inside and see nothing. I am looking for schematics for the ECC and the power stage to trace down the problems. The loose wire still concerns me

I just bought a '94 850 Turbo wagon; it was a great price, I have another '94 850T that has over 300K miles and is still running strong, I can swap parts between them to help diagnose problems with buying something I don't need to really replace.

I read all codes from OBD I and then cleared them. I can't get rid of 126 in B1, passenger air sensor. My A/C lights flash at start up, though A/C seems to work OK. I wanted to swap out sensors between the sedan and the wagon but I can't figure out how to remove it. I have removed the handle and the plastic trim over the sensor and vacuumed it out to no avail. I tried pulling with needle nose pliers and broke off a small piece of the sensor. Any hints? I must be missing something obvious. I would rather not have to remove the headliner to investigate further. There must be an easier, softer way.

I have similar symptoms on my 98 v70 xc. It started a few years ago but now the east coast summer is impending and my a/c doesnt work the way it is supposed to. I believe it is one of three things. Hopefully someone can help me narrow down whether it is the blower fan, resistor, or interior temp sensor (little fan next to ecc behind vents).

If the a/c is not engaged at startup the two ecc lights do not blink. however when i adjust the toggle for fan speed the blower starts to go for about 2 seconds and then dies. The a/c and recic lights flash until i move the fan speed toggle to 0. I recharged the a/c system last summer and replaced the cabin temp sensor with a used one from a junkyard. If I keep the a/c on what is supposed to be full blast and drive at speed i can feel the cooled air creeping from the vents, just not being blown. So the compressor is working fine.

Weird is that in the winter heat was no problem. Turn it on and the fan would run all day if the temp was set to 80. Sometimes i can "fool" the system into starting with the heat, "passing" the fabled continuity test, and then turning my knobs to 60 degrees and enjoying the full capabilities of the ecc. So the question I'm dying to know is. What does this sound like? Cabin temp sensor, resistor, or blower fan?
