Winter in this area is severe. Repairs in emergency costly. I could take it apart to look closer, but not having a replacement feels... it is Lemforder.
Is the firewall replacement just a bushing or the complete triangle like mount?

See the instructions for replacing the mount - basically you need to saw out the old one and then freeze and lube up the new one with dish soap to press it in.
I will look through MVS for instruction. Freeze, you mean put it in the refrigerator/freezer overnight?

Just go to an autoparts web page (e.g. fcpgroton.com) and search for the part, there will be a picture and you will know exactly what it looks like :D

Freeze means freeze, put it in the freezer. The treatment is to shrink it as much as possible, and make it inflexible.

One thing. You might look at the mount and think, how the heck do I get this out? Yes, saw it out, I use a hacksaw blade. You'll see as you begin cutting that it is just plastic. I saw through about half, a little more maybe then take a screwdriver and a hammer. Put the screwdriver (flat-blade) on the plastic part that's partially sawed out, whap it with the hammer and more than likely, it'll snap and be very easy to take out. For my 2 cents, I just put in the poly 2-piece replacement. You'll never replace again and it is wildely easy to put in.. The increased vibration is pretty minimal if any.

Just to add another opinion ... I put in a poly mount but the increased vibrations really bothered me and I took it out. It is especially bad driving around town, every time the car moves from a stop. The rubber style is much smoother, IMHO.

Hmm, maybe I'll try the rubber one. I found one in my parts box from my old V70R and I had never installed it. My vibration was mostly from the lower right-hand mount being trash. I did the urethane upper first and it helped with the motor flopping around but the heavy vibration calmed down a lot with a new lower mount. Maybe with a rubber mount up top I can get a bit smoother feeling engine. My biggest reason was the urge to never do it again although it was pretty easy in any case.

Today, I tried to take out the draining channel to look closer at the engine mount on the firewall. Also, to assess what will it take to do a complete upper mount job. I couldn't get pass removing the 4 six point screws. Discovered, there is no cabin filter. It ran without one since August 1996. I wonder! Should I install one?

Anyway, the 1/2" nut holding the wiper arm came out easy, but taking out the wiper arm was..., gave up after two hours. Is there a special method for removing the two wiper arms?

Also, what would break or come apart while removing the draining channel? Will I need bushings, retainer clips, washers to put it all back together?

Many thanks!

It was very common for 850s, especially NAs, to sell without a cabin filter. You have to buy a bracket that holds the filter, then the replaceable filter element. It is good to have one mainly to protect the evaporator core for the AC system.

Good news is, there is no reason to completely remove the cowl. Just removing those screws gives you plenty of clearance to add and service the cabin filter. Nor does it need to come off for replacing the firewall mount. The only reason I have ever removed wiper arms, was to replace them.

Look mate, IPDusa, has it complete in the metal bracket, for around 40$, and it takes about 10 min to install, if that one is gone, and it is, chances are that lower transmission torque mount, and the one it connects to ( the one closer to windshield wipers ) are gone, mine were bad, and it made my transmission feel like it needed a complete rebuild. this was on a c70, but the idea stays, you can drive it like that, but if extra 30$ is not a problem, just go for a complete one, that has been pressed ------------ sooooo much less problems with install.
