Electronics Faulty. ABS Module?

Have you actually had a code reader connected to it? If so, what codes?

Don't have a OBD2 reader. Wish I did.

The STC light shouldn't be coming on by itself. I've run tons of bad modules through my car and never have that come up...If it's the module, the STC and ABS light will always come on together...never by itself.

Find somebody with a scanner and find out why that CEL is on...that may save you a ton of guessing.

Heh this is weird... No lights came on today. Was gonna go to the dealer to see if they checked the CEL light, assuming it was on, but the service adviser that helped me yesterday wasn't at work today. Hopefully everything stays well from now on...

Wanted to edit OP but can't... Anyways I just realized that it's the brake failure warning light that comes on, not handbrake light. And this is still happening intermittently. No CEL today... Nothing happened yesterday and I drove a good 50km.

Ok now I got a flashing arrow and momentary loss in power. Transmission acted like it was a CVT for a couple seconds...

Oh and I tried jiggling the key to see if it's an ignition switch problem. Nope, it isn't.

Seriously, no idea. But I'd try unplugging and re-plugging the ABS module. From that video, it does appear your speedo is sticking until the car gets moving.

The problem seems much, much different than the typical symptoms of a bad ABS module (ABS/TRACS/STC lights on).

Actually, the problem occurs when the vehicle is moving as well. It just so happened that it occurred while the vehicle was stopped in that video. The most annoying thing is that the problem occurs whenever it wants, then it may go away a few seconds later, or 10 minutes later. The dealer says it's a communication error where the ABS Module is failing intermittently and until the ABS module gets replaced, they can't do anything further to diagnose the problem. As for the flashing arrow, they are stumped on it as well. VIDA says it's because the speedometer died so the TCM was glitching or something. Basically, it all ties back to the ABS module.

Now here's one thing they told me. Volvo's replacement ABS modules don't have the car's VIN number stored in them, so they might need to program it upon installation. If I try to get a rebuilt one from Matty as I plan to do, there's a chance they won't be able to program it and I'll have a dead car. Anyone heard about this?

That doesn't actually rule out the switch as a possible problem.
It just tells you that jiggling didn't make it work.
You could still have a bad switch.
Just sayin'...

There is no reprogramming ona 99 to 2000.

I've run hundreds of these that are bad, I haven't seen a single one give just the stc light without the abs light. Is it possible? Anything is I suppose, but that would be new one.
