new user needs help with sudden overheat and no heat

You probably a resriction in the cooling system. Same thing happened to me. When I bought my Volvo the heater core was bypassed. The inlet heater core hose was cut and bent to bypass it. All I did was I took the same metal elbow hose that was left on the firewall behind the turbo, cut the hose where it was bent and fastened it on there, so the water flow would'nt be a restriction. Car hasnt heated up yet. Its been like about a week since I did this. Also since it gets over 100 degrees where I live I bypassed the thermostat.
