+1 on ride height increase with the Bilstein TCs. Nice strut though as far as handling and ride comfort go.

I didn't measure before and after difference when I replaced the struts so my conclusions are observations. But, there does look like something is happenin' there boys.
TC adds close to 1".
It looked bit strange for few days. But now others look fatigued next to my stallion.

It makes me think of switching to 16" or 17" rim.

You're all wrong
Bilsteins (both of them) raise the front about 1/2"+ (up to 9/16") not even close to an inch.

Best solution, Koni Sport Yellows
Most expensive, but probably have the longest life and they're ADJUSTABLE! :!:
Set them on soft for a nice (almost) stock ride, (but more controllable), or anywhere in between that and full hard

KYB are oem fit on many Japanese cars, and have a great reputation for longevity in my part of the world. I guess it depends on which product range you use.

Personally I will never buy Bilstein TCs again. I rebuilt the entire front end of an 850 wagon I owned including 30mm lowering springs and the ride was awful. Can't say it sat up any higher though; it was pretty low and handled like a demon on billiard table smooth mountain roads. The springs were not good name brand but the rears were progressive rate.

The around town ride was that bad (jarringly hard) my wife didn't want the car so I sold it.

Mike, I'd blame the springs for that. I used Bilstein tc on the rear of my wagon and found them plush to the point of being too soft.

The TC were bit stiff for me at the start, but now after 3000 miles, it is just awesome.
The road surface is not a shock but a feel, and steering quicker and fun.

Everyone have moved to newer models and now there are fewer (5-8) of these in NorthShore, but the ones I often see look slouched next to mine with TC.

Gentlemen and women of this thread...thanks for the opinions on this matter. BTW, I installed an IPD strut tower brace for the hell of it cause I saved tons of cash doing my repairs on this car myself. Incidentally, i run these michelin exalto tires (205 55 r16) and, well, I think I need to change them out. Nice ride, super quiet but too soft, however, when pushed in corners they seem to give a bit then hold. My guess is that there must be some inherent flexing tolerance in the sidewall construction that allows this combination of plush/sport feel. Anyhow, I'd like 17" rims on the next profile down rubber so 50 series? Dont think 45 series will work unless I go 18" rims. Width wise am I limited to 215 or can 225 go on there? Lowering springs; given the ride height increase am I gaining anything better in handling going with sport springs like the IPD units? Does anyone have knowledge about the IPD sport springs and if they will lower the ride height.

Brain teaser....so after all the frontend suspension and linkage repair (struts, sway endlinks, control arms, inner outter tie rods) a click/binding sound at the drivers side, under speed, when the steering is moved. This isnt a CV joint issue. Maybe i overtightened something but it was all done to spec Ft Lbs torque values....control arm was tightened at ride height to torque spec....what y'all think?

thanks

You guys (and gals?) have sold me on the Bilsten TCs. I was ready to go with the OEM Sachs but my 2001 C70 feels so ridiculously heavy in the front that I think a slightly firmer strut will help me get the smooth ride I seek (not so interested in handling and "performance").

Also, I am running REALLY big tires (Continental Extreme DWS 215/55/16 with new Platinum e-Twine 16" wheels since the 17" originals with 45 Yokohamas were dented in 3 places) so I could use the extra height from the Bilsteins.

Already replaced both Control Arms, but since I will be doing the struts, anything else I should replace while I am in there? My 2001 C70 has 85,000 miles on it.
