BTW, tranny never separated by me, DEFINITELY not by previous owner.

2-1-4 is for the crank sensor, 3-1-4 is for the cam sensor.

28: 2-1-4 RPM sensor signal, sporadic. Signal faulty
DTC information2-1-4
If the ECM counts more than two teeth too few or too many on the connecting flange/flywheel for two consecutive crankshaft revolutions, DTC 2-1-4 is set.

28: 3-1-4 Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor signal. Signal faulty. Intermittent fault
DTC information3-1-4
If the ECM does not receive any signal from the CMP sensor for 2.4 engine revolutions, DTC 3-1-4 is set at the next attempt to start the engine.

Well, better late than never, but SUCCESS!!! Replacing the crank sensor did the trick. Stupid me, I checked the resistance of the sensor and it being about 280 ohms, I figured it was probably OK and I moved on to looking at other things. The new CKS (a cheapo) measured 304 ohms, but of course, there must have been a difference in the efficacy of the shielding or something.

I did tell my wife that I would put it up for sale, but first her son wants to learn to drive a stick, so Pearl will be around for a little while longer. The car runs so well and is fun to drive, but my herd is too large

I recall both reading and being told that the manual V70's could not be push started. I forget the rationale -- perhaps anti-theft. What I can say is that I have attempted to push start mine without success before I was told it couldn't be done.

Well, my 850 can be pushstarted quite easily. In fact, it can be done in reverse!

One thing I learned on my V70 the hard way...don't let anyone use those big pack starter boosters to give you a jump start.

The hand carry able ones are fine.

SWMBO got a jump at the bus depot on a weak battery, and the next day 2 coils went bad, leaving us in downtown city at 2330 hours in -20 F weather......
