Well, our reworked cylinder head is on its way back from Clearwater. I went out for the weekly spin of the short block and finally promised myself I would put the crank on the mark

I had zero luck finding the crank mark even in evening with bright light, so I zapped off the 30 mm and harmonic balancer and used the ridge method

Note piston position at the crank mark. #1 is close to that position we never talk about during timing mark discussions.

Confession.

I turned this motor over 6 times looking for that divot mark on the splines and could not see it. I still have not seen it on the car, only in the picture

Is that a maple seed helicopter also in the picture? Seems rather late in year even for Albany.

Our local cats have whittled the chipmunk population down to near extinction
