Well, well...I'm sorry I did not see this post prior to pulling our '99 S70 dash...oddly enough, I did a similar thing with fabricating additional bracing...and will post it here shortly...I also took plenty of photos, and will post them here upon completion of my reply... Very nice! I hope both of our solutions hold up at least as long as the original installs have, if not longer!

Click QUICK POST then FULL EDITOR, then hit attachments.

I don't need them to hold up for 14 years, just till my daughter is tired of the car. LOL

Some slight variations in the process...ours is a 1999 S70 T5...I assume-and based on your signature-rspi's is a 1998...sorry...the photo order is backwards!!! is there a way to edit and reverse the order without re-attaching?

Now, we're ready to get to work on repairing those dash mounting tabs and making some modifications to hopefully strengthen the mounting points upon re-assembly/re-installation

The view from the driver's side...note the four (4) openings in the upper area of the "felt-like" sound isolation/firewall "pad"...those are the locations of the four (4) primary plastic mounting tabs, where the firewall carriage bolts penetrate through and are supposed to secure the dash

And a look from just about the driver's seat...no driving for now...A bit easier the see the dash mounting tab locations in this closeup view...I believe that at this point, the shattered plastic dash mount tabs are still sitting in place against the firewall

Hi guys,

How much time should I budget for this job for my 1998 S70?

I think I spent about $35. That included buying the collar that fell apart when I pulled it.

LOL, If you are a fast worker, you can do it in 3 hours. I'm pretty slow, so it took me about 6, 2 one day and 4 the next. I wasn't 100% sure what I was going to use to fix what was back there. Once I had it off I was surprised of what I was faced with. So I went to the store a time or two to get supplies. Some of my time is consumed with shooting takes for the videos, trying to speak clear English, pronounce words correctly, etc. LOL
