A good method of doing desludging is to put in a metal treatment which is known to protect oil starved engines, then once the protection is in, run another product made by the same company that will not harm the metal treatment and acts as a solvent to the sludge.
Not here to endorse or sell any product out there, however lots of companies selling exactly the solution I mentioned.
This can be done in two treatments and be done with it. Running any other way may harm the engine.
