98 S70 T5 So why did the check engine light not go off?

I'd have her go to Volvo for a code pull. Lurking tranny problems would be something to get in front of pretty quickly I'd guess. She should ask them to write down on the invoice all the codes discovered. They'd be in that "E" format right, the one where the code is pretty accurately described?

Typical causes of p0108 are MAF, IAC and the MAP (actually I think it is a baro sensor). If changing the MAF cleared it up then maybe the problem was indeed the MAF.

MAF code is P0103:

MAP code is P0108:
http://www.obd-codes.com/p0108

There might be something in common between P0103 and P0108, but I am not aware of this fact.

So here is the plan of attack: 1- Check Tranny Fluid for level,color,smell,feel. All good 2- Check codes Replace MAP Sensor and clear codes. My daughter can handle this. Hopefully the CEL and codes will comply. Then :D and drive all is good !!! If not take it to the shop for a full diagnostic. Thank you all in Volvo Land, I will let you know how this turns out.

I like that! Race for Pinks, that's how we did it back in 1962, pinks and beers (and no ga dang seat belts you fairy!) :-)
