2000 S70 - Control arm + caliper question

Very easy, go to NAPA and buy a rebuilt REAR caliper.
Call them to order it first.

Then:

1. Try undo the nut, you need a 11-mm flared wrench, and as mentioned, there is a good chance you will round the nut! Some people heat the nut with propane torch, but be careful when doing that b/c brake fluid can be flammable, so you need to find a place for brake fluid to go (open bleeder port).

- Some people cannot take the nut off, so they cut the metal line upstream and use an adapter to joint the new metal line, but this involves way more work than necessary.

2. If the nut is seized, then the next best option is:
- Remove the pistons, seals, boots from the existing caliper, but leave it in place connected to the metal line.
- Remove the pistons, seals, boots (don't damage the boot during removal) from the new caliper.
- Then perform a transplant of pistons, seals, boots to the old caliper.

Ah. Well....you may have bought the wrong car in that case, lol.

The Meyle HD kit from FCP has gotten good reviews. When I replace my entire front suspension I'll be using that kit. Part number: 850CAKIT-MY

Stay away from anything made by scantech.

Follow cn90's advice on sourcing the caliper parts, he's one of the most experienced members on MVS.

For the most part all of this can be done in your drive way with just a floor jack and jack stands; a lift will certainly help the process but it isn't required.
