OK, many thanks, so I do not have to worry about the relays.

Maybe that is why there are no VIDA DICE error codes of any kind (will check this again anyway).
The only thing I wanted to mention is that I get the same error message despite a few changes:
1.replaced the entire rear wire harness with another one taken from a 2004 XC70. This would imply that the "new" (granted old) wire harness would have the same pink or brown wire broken?
2.replaced the entire latch with another one taken from the same 2004 XC70.
So, based on your reading of the wiring diagrams, the tailgate open message can occur only "if EITHER the latch micro switch OR the glass breakage sensor are open"? There are no other possibilities?
Anyway, there is something to go on now, so many thanks.
