On your ME7 equipped car your foot isn't doing anything when you are starting the car. The ECU controls the fuel delivered under start condition and you can whistle Dixie with your foot as far as the engine is concerned.

My experience with my 99 S70GLT - starts without touching the gas pedal except on cold winter days
when I have to tap the pedal once to start it. My theory is that by tapping the pedal I am telling the
ecu to open the throttle a little more, and that's enough to get it to start. Could be the throttle plate
sticks a little in cold weather. I have never cleaned it.

I don't think the ECU is responding to your foot on an ME7
