There is a pcv oil passage inside the oil pan as well, which can be checked without removing the pan at the time of replacing the pcv box. If the pcv box was solidly clogged, there is good chances the oil passage inside the oil pan is clogged as well. only way to clean it is to remove the oil pan.

Thin guage wire double twisted can get into all sorts of crevices. Used this method recently as well as compressed air to blow it out. Result was very good.
