Man, I thought everyone's brakes looked like that. (I'm a recent transplant from up north.)

Corroded??? You call that corroded? You ain't seen corroded until you lived up North. Just bought my daughter a used car from TX, 10 years old and it looks brand new - couple winters up here will take care of that.

I managed to get everything done last night except the side engine mount and the brakes. I could have had it all done but somebody stopped by for a couple of hours.

I only had to replace one IC hose, the rest had recently been replaced...without clamps. I'll pick those up today. Being how corroded this thing is, I'm going to spray PB Blaster on the brake bolts one more time today, take a torch to them for a few seconds and then do them later.

A mechanic friend offered it to me for $200 when the owner balked at the repair expense and gave the car to the mechanic. It had a blown head and had been sitting for a year and was just beat. He let me pick at it before he junked it but I just couldn't get motivated to pull the rear seats. I don't really need them anyway, my kids are pretty much past rear seat age.

My last project took me all summer to fix, at one week you are lightning fast.
I would have jumped all over the heated back seats but that's just me being me when it comes to the limited factory options. .

True... I used to live up North, but my cars are happier here!

The mechanicals are done, but ran into a snag.

A completely seized RF caliper and both front brake hoses are literally hosed. So, I ordered two front brake hoses and a reman caliper. I had an extra set of calipers but already used a RF. Those will be here Friday, so realistically it will still be done on that day.

I have managed to save a few hundred by tapping into my stockpile of spare parts. I had a full set of timing components and a slew of hoses and other things.

Finished last night. I need to do the oil lines, but aside from that it's square. .

I heard somewhere that it's hip to be square.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Well....this car is turning out to be a unique one.

Drove it around today, it scoots but it also burns oil. Checked the PCV system and it's putting out positive pressure so I have an idea where that is coming from.

the bizarre thing.....no odometer. It just isn't there at all, no dashes, no nothing. The tripmeter works fine but the odometer is MIA.
