98 T5 Door Chim Relay and Car alarm

@v-45magna: thanks for the link. I used it and came up with my own solution.

In looking at the microswitch from the diagram, I made a guess that my switch could be sticking from excessive grease or dirt (as it had a lot of greased on it and grease can dry solid) So, instead of removing the switch latch and door panel, I doused all the crevices with WD-40. I then 'threw' the mechanism to lock mode with my finger and sprayed some more WD40. To unlock the latch, you have to pull on the handle to 'throw' it to unlock. That along with adjusting the catch so that it is 'farther' away from car, made it work again!

Alarm works (minus the siren, it just blinks with lights) -( that is a problem for another day), and door lights turn off. Not bad for a 5 min fix.
