I don't know that Dorman actually makes anything. I think they buy stuff in bulk, stick it in their box, and ship it. They have a terrific distribution network and you can buy Dorman branded parts anywhere. The upshot is that the same part with the same part number may or may not be the same part from box to box.

My experience with Dorman has been hit or miss. I have had very bad luck with their axles and with things like window switches. I have had better luck with some of their parts for my Chevy. They are not a brand I would choose for something that is mission critical but for a purge valve, that is more of an irritant than anything else, I don't see any harm in using one.

Already used one two years ago and the problem is back. Suspect the purge valve but not sure. Everything else is new and OEM.

As a consolation:

- Dorman Purge Valve is $21 or so (free shipping) on ebay.
Probably made in China...

- Bosch Purge Valve is $32 or so (free shipping) on ebay.
Definitely made in China...

I was at junk yard on the weekend and saw a 1998 Volvo S70 with purge valve by Pierburg.

My research shows that Volvo PN 9470775 fits many years and is made by Pierburg:

Anyway, I just ordered Valve made by Pierburg on ebay for $23, will report back later...
Hopefully Pierburg is better than "made-in-China Bosch"...

This is what it looks like:
