My preference is Lemforders but I have put on three or four of the Meyle HDs and they have been working fine.

An inexpensive option would be to go to a scrap yard and look for an original Volvo part that have been recently replaced - usually a date is stamped on the arm. All but Lemforder options, people had more or less luck with them. Some didn't last 6 months, other did better, but it also depends on how good the roads are in the area.

Deutchparts is selling a set of control arms and a set of sway bar links for 850/v70/s70 for $85 shipped...too good to be true??

My car is badly in need of passenger side replacement, funds are tight, and the car is driven maybe 3,000 - 5,000 miles per year.

Thoughts??

OK, it's on eBay right?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VOLVO-850-S70-V ... 1c19087398

Those are Hamburg-Technic parts, they have been around a long time and have a poor reputation see https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =5&t=21137.

Crappy control arms will probably get you through about a year or so with such low miles per year as you describe, if that is enough for you then go for it.

If only the right side is really bad, just get that one for now you do not need to replace them in pairs. Get Meyle HD it is the middle of the road part you were looking for, $65 from FCP (https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 70-v70-850) or a pair on eBay for $110 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-HEAVY-DUTY-Fr ... M0&vxp=mtr)

Yeah Erik that's the auction I'm talking about.

I have a set of Meyle HD sway bar links on the car already, so those don't need to be changed but it's so tempting for $85 to get all 4 parts lol, even if they don't last that long.

I've seen the link and read it (the negative) but what actually fails on these, the ball joint?

For that price I might just pull the trigger. But I will mull over your suggestion on just getting the passenger side Meyle HD arm. why does everyone say you need to replace both at once? Thanks.

Regular Meyle control arm have average quality, but HD versions lasts just like OEM,sometimes even longer.
You just replace the faulty one.No need to replace them in pair if other one is still good.

On a cheapo control arm the ball joint is usually the weak spot, sometimes the bushings at the subframe fail too.

No need at all to replace control arms in pairs, people are probably just thinking of shocks/struts and guessing. Or trying to sell parts!
