The drained battery was a few weeks ago, it's had a few long trips and a lot of local driving. I didn't think to check the mileage so I'm not sure the distance driven. My son drives this car so I'm not exactly sure of the nature of the driving. I'll check with the inspection station about the exemptions. Car has over 230,000 miles but still running strong. Hate to think that the inability to pass inspection on a technicality would be what sends it to the scrap yard.

Volvo with 230k is practically still a new car,so don't think in "scrap yard" way.

Success! Took it in to the garage and explained the whole EPA study/ exemption list etc. They said it won't pass if the monitors aren't ready. Plug it in anyway I'll take the $21 gamble, Passed inspection, mechanics amazed.
