Ok I pulled codes today. 9150 and code 530D I also checked the throttle body it has the yellow sticker on the front side (facing radiator) so I suppose it has been upgraded?
The arrow is still flashing....

NOW, question is I have read about that you can get a Bosch unit and replace the crap one and it doesn't need programming..... here's one I found on Ebay. Is this the "direct" bolt on replacement unit??

I would like to get the transmission arrow flashing and the ETS light to go off and to have the car perform like it should.
For now. The arrow is still flashing....

The 530D code shows VSS (Vehicle speed sensor) signal low..... that would make sense why the transmission starts out in a higher gear....... where is this sensor located....

We have 2 separate issues here. Transmission sensor will likely need replacement also. There are 2 on the 99 model. One is quite hidden.
9150 is throttle sensor 1 or 2.
You can't just put a Bosch in it's place. Nobody has done this; the ECM handles the programming on Bosch models. If you put a Bosch in your car there will be nothing to control the throttle.

Is the VSS same as the crank sensor? The one that sits on the right of bottom of engine block at joint to transmission. It's actually bolted to the transmission case and reads the speed of the torque converter/flywheel?? The other VSS is it the Cam Sensor that sits up top?
The Throttle Body has the yellow sticker, will this need to just be cleaned up with throttlebody cleaner and the connector cleaned? Or will it need programming as the TB has the yellow sticker??

No to both those sensors. Vehicle speed sensors measure road speed at output shaft of transmission.
One is wired on top of transmission with 10mm bolt holding it down. The other one is best located by removing the PNP switch and is directly wired into the PNP plug.
The 2 you mentioned are engine speed sensors and would not give a flashing arrow.
It won't hurt to clean the ETM; just use a throttle body or carb cleaner that doesn't leave a residue. Because you have a sensor malfunction cleaning will do little as the sensor films are not accessible without a full disassembly of the throttle.

The other VSS is actually part of that big connector that goes to the TCM. It's not part of the PNP switch. It's a bit of a pain to disassemble that damn big connector but once you do you can replace the PNP and the VSS separately

That's what I was mentioning when I said "plug" meaning connector. One of the VSS is wired directly into that one.

My code - 530D shows VSS signal low. That would not have anything to do with the PNP switch per se"? Or would a bad one also trigger that code? I was thinking more that it's the VSS that is part of that big connector but everywhere I read it seems to point to the PNP switch....... any thoughts on that?
