Yes, both the drives and the passenger side. The car itself heats up fine, but no heat coming out. When I switch from "auto" so front fans it makes a really loud kind of noise.chrism wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 11:12I wonder when they replaced the core if they disconnected the little linkages that open/close the blend doors and didn't get them reconnected properly. Then when you hit the pot hole one of them jarred loose???tboothe33 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 10:34 I had the heater core replaced in 2017. Well, wouldn't you know, I hit a pothole 2 weeks ago, and the heat went out again. Since my heater core is relatively new, is there something that could have come loose when I hit the pothole? It worked fine before I hit it.
They're the two flat metal "arms" in this photo:

Did you lose heat on both the driver's side AND the shotgun (passenger) side?
Heater is not blowing very strong.

Each side has its motor and linkeage, don't think it's a motor issue. Maybe the blower motor has an issue? Does the noise come from behind the glove box?

The arm that moves the flap is Volvo PN 9171544 ($25 from Volvo dealer or online).
I detailed my experience when replacing the heater core in my 2005 XC90 2.5T in the DIY below.
You can easily inspect the arm with minimal tool:
