Try a 2000 R! I have the kit from IPD, went to try to install and one of the 3 bolts is hard up against the rear of the hard line. Only way to install will be to pull the whole turbo to access it! Got to love those big turbos (19T?). It will wait until I can no longer drive the car as it has no turbo boost!
I looked at the 13G that was on a 98 V70XC and I can see it would be challenging but relatively accessible to do with the turbo in place.
Neil.

It's even easier to replace with the turbo out and on a bench. Installed the exact same kit last fall when I was replacing the head gasket on my 96 850. I pulled the turbo to inspect at the time. I didn't know about the Mitzi OEM or go home rule when I ordered the IDP part.

Mitzi = Mitsubishi = OEM. OEM or go home, like with spring seats.
Maybe he is alluding to posts like this: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/topic/13 ... v-failure/
There was a time period where several of these "HD" diaphragms were reported torn (remember their "HD" sway bar end links that for many people lasted about 6 months?), I have no idea if/how it was addressed.

Erik,
I looked at mine and I might have the IPD one but I'm really not sure. I have not idea how/where I acquired this- it was so long ago. It looks good though and seems it could take a licking of 18-19psi...

So is the IPD kit recommended now or still no?

I really don't know, I would see what others say too.
Here's my opinion (opinion, not fact!): I have seen a few other posts of IPD ones with holes in them at VS, that one I just grabbed the first one I saw. But still I doubt it is a big mistake, given that you don't hear about it much and on a 15g like yours it is much easier to change. Mitsu is more of a sure thing, just make sure you get a genuine one. On eBay some sellers will ship you the Kinugawa one (read the ad carefully), I know there have been problems recently with that one, I would stay away from it. ARD has one for $40 with springs, if I needed a new one I might give that a try. If I wanted to never do it again I would go with Mitsubishi.

XSboostturbochargers.com has the OEM kit or so they claim, 63 bucks. The link I provided in my previous post doesn't work but they carry these units. I'd be inclined to get them to verify OEM and go for it, as has been noted above. There are ongoing ? reports of quality issues with IPD, ARD units. The OEM Mitsubishi kits aren't that easy to find IME.
