This may be true, but on a replacement window, have they inserted some-type of trim that mimics OEM trim?

Most all older vehicles with OEM installed glass should have new glass installed when you can't see clearly when driving towards Sun.

Myself, I would go to a glass shop, and ASK THEM?

I rather suspect taking off this trim is a PIA, and someone came up with a BETTER IDEA of putting trim on the glass.

Here's a place to start. Skandix - Trim moulding, Glas Windscreen Kit - Volvo 700, 900 Product number 1028168

Don't get too excited about this being a German site, I think they have US distributor chain. www.skandix.com

Myself, I'd be talking to a glass shop, and asking if they knew of something that could be "pasted" on there.

They might even have a catalog, of replacement trim...that's their business.

If one could find a Volvo body shop, they might have an answer...

Skandix are the ones I refer to in my post #1 and so far they are the only ones who have the part, but I cannot accept to pay 150.00 € + P&P for a piece of rubber.

The glass shop... that was my first choice before starting this thread, they told me they buy the part from Volvo, so back to square one.

So far I was unable to find anything, anywhere, from US, EU and Russia, I never had issues to find a Volvo part, this one cannot be used, it has to be new.

I am currently waiting an answer from the guys at http://www.trim-gard.com/ but I do not see any windshield molding in their catalog, so I am not optimistic.

Cheers

Hi all,

I got the answer from http://www.trim-gard.co - do not smile, promise?

We would likely be able to make this for you but it would be very costly.
First there would be Research and Development charges of approx. $3,000.00 to $5,000.00
Minimum run amount would likely be 20,000ft.

...so, preserve your molding, it is more expensive than gold ! :)
