Pro Cylinder Head Service Tool Kit 42.00, that's a helluva deal compared what they used to go for... and seem to still do from some vendors...

Sweet. I think I'll use this method when the time comes. It should cover everything I need to change out and nothing I don't.tryingbe wrote:How hard? That depends on the person.j-dawg wrote:How hard was that job?
Buy new cam seals (Corteco seals) for both sides, 20 valve stem seals (I used Volvo seals), the 5 round seals around the plugs, Volvo pink anaerobic sealant, and the tool. Use an air compressor to put air into the cylinder to hold the valve closed. I did the 10 intake valves first than move the tool to do the 10 exhaust valves. Sometimes, you need to use a hammer to smack the valve lock to get it loose before you can use the spring compressor tool.
I did not use the special tool to hold down the cam while bolting down the cover, I put the assembly grease on the cams and journals, put anaerobic sealant in all the right places, I lined up the covers, then I just went slow and turned the bolts one turn at a time in a circular pattern from the inside out. It took a while, but I didn't break anything and there was no leak after.
