Thanks for the reply, this particular thread mentions that situation I am in: the upper seat is built into the frame of the car on my 1997 850 awd low pressure turbo b 5254 t station wagon. Regular shocks it seems would simply have nothing to sit against. However, I do see a part number for that shock 9461631 that looks like it has the same upper diameter as the nivomats?

Definitely not off-topic, considering those brake lines may get accidentally stressed when attempting to change the springs, you never know when we inadvertently make a mistake , and one must be very careful and inspect them before we reassemble right?
