To buy or not to buy

Why not. Got a friend in Munich I need to visit next year anyhow. Sounds like a good plan!

So i finally bought that brick, she dropped the price to 500Euro, so I bought it unseen. Picked the car up today.

It is an early 94 T5 wagon (with the reverse intercooler piping they had in the beginning) and basically NO options (4 power windows, heated seats, moonroof). And that's it.
Anyhow, after driving it to my indie mechanic who will do the inspection i still don't know if it is worth saving or if i will part it out. Not a single body panel that is not rusty or bent. It has been in one family all of its life.
A T5M is fun, btw.

Now to the bad things i noticed right away:
- Even though the temp gauge rises as i'd expect it, the heat takes forever to come on. It is the primitive 2 wheels (non ecc) control unit. I guess the thermostat could be stuck open.
- the exhaust is broken, maybe even the header
- the turbo gauge doesn't do a thing
- the lambda light is on (A2 delivers a 232 code). Could be from the exhaust leak if it leaks in front of the cat or rear O2 sensor, right?
- shocks have seen better days
- driver side heated seat doesn't work

But hey, it's a T5M!

First of all, I'd say BUY if you can afford it and have a spot to park the car.
