Yikes....what a mess. I didn't realize our alternators could survive such an ATF bath...if I recall the alt winding wire insulation is polyurethane. Electric motor cleaner is a good choice, followed by compressed air. I'm guessing most brake cleaner now-a-days is alcohol + water + propellant.

Glad it survived and your wife made it home OK!
