What other Volvo sedan would you recommend?

S60 series 2.

I went from a 1998 n/a S70 to a 2005 S60 with the 2.5T. I loved the size of the S70, a big back seat plus the worlds most comfy drivers seat, but it was less than exciting to drive. The S60 driver's seat is a little smaller, and the back seat legroom is almost non existent, but I love the way it handles as well as the zippy 2.5T engine.

I've heard great things about the P2 T5s after 2005 or 2006 (I think). The newer 2.5 T5s are great engines, and said to be some of the toughest and best engines Volvo ever built. Around 260 horsepower too, so a bit of a jump from the old 2.3 T5s we get in our P80s.

If we are talking about S60/V70, the high pressure turbo T5 went from 2.3l (2001-2004) to 2.4l @ near 260hp (2005+). The S40/V50 rather got a 'T5' @ 220hp with a 2.5l turbo perhaps the low pressure turbo from the 2.4T and 2.5T S60 models. The 2.4T and later 2.5T on the S60/V70 is an amazing engine with max torque right from the idle @ 1500rpm up to 4500 rpm. Quite a nice car to drive from a stop or on highway, despite a less attractive mpg in particular in the XC70 models.

Yeah, the newer 260 hp T5. The 2.5 T5 in the P1 cars (C30, S40, V50, C70) is a light pressure turbo, totally different T5 from the P2 (S60/V70). The S/V70 GLT first hits peak torque at 1,800 RPM, so I'm sure the newer 2.4t/2.5t is an improvement (also considering it makes more). Mine probably makes a bit more than stock with my boost turned up. I know for sure it pulls HARD in first gear now. It launches pretty well for what it is, and pulls you hard up until second. Then it backs off some, but it's still significantly better than stock.
