The expertise for modding ECU's gets better daily. Low number/low interest vehicles still have the biggest challenges in finding someone capable of accessing and coding them.
Bravo to the guy that got that auto to manual swap accomplished.

I'm guessing they likely flashed the ECU software package from a manual and then handled the immobilizer by clearing & re-adding the keys. I like the franken cars - as long as I'm not the one broken down on the side of the road with it =)
