I am new to this, so bear with me. I am going through the steps, so could someone verify for me?
Basically, transfer ONLY the factory circuit board over to the manual assembly.
1. Remove existing autodim assembly (10-mm and Torx etc.) from the ceiling.
Separate the glass slowly from the circuit board using youtube videos etc.
Do you use a hair dryer or heat gun here?
Cut the 2 red wires in the process.
2. Buy on ebay (or go to junk yard) and buy a manual mirror assembly.
Separate the glass from the circuit board.
3. Now glue the manual glass onto the factory circuit board.
What kind of glue do you recommened?
4. Re-install the new "combo" (regular manual glass + factory circuit board)
into the manual housing.
Re-install in the car.
I am attaching a random photo from ebay to show what I need to buy,..

Yep, you have the right one, just needs the "flipper" on the bottom. Mine were ~$30USD on eBay.
I simply used household silicone to attach the new mirror to the existing circuit board. I did not need heat to remove old one. Just be patient to not crack glass or circuit board. Also when installing my old circuit board/new glass assembly into the manual mirror take time to check clearance...one housing needed plastic bracing molded into it cut as old circuit had conpass stuff manual mirror did not. Had to trim internal bracing with utility knife...should be self-explanatory.

@pgill,
I wonder what the company in TX did for your rear view mirror that an average DIYer cannot do at home?
If I get a manual mirror from local junk yard (about $15-$25), I can swap as mentioned?
Wht functionality that you get to keep by using the TX company?

Cn90,
The company that I used replaced the glass.
And they etched a window for my light sensor and compass.
My mirror works exactly like it did the day it left the Volvo factory.
A motivated enthusiast could learn how to do all of these things but for my $$$ it was worth it to outsource the work to someone with more experience.
My backup plan was to use a standard mirror without auto dimming but I am glad that I tried the company in Texas instead.
Good luck
Paul

Hmmm. Half of th reviews say it works great, the other say it does not work. On reflection, there are two sides to this story.

Thanks pgill,
Just to confirm...if we send the mirror to the company in TX as you mentioned in the other thread:
https://www.radar-mirror.com/product/au ... r-display/
1. Do they use your mirror as a template, then they provide their own mirror, with the window cut for the compass and sensor?
2. The mirror they sent back: is it manual or auto-dimming?
