That's an interesting thought. Thanks for that. My expectation is that the shop knows what it's doing - just by the cars there - including an AC Cobra with a 427, but perhaps they missed TDC by one or two teeth.

When I did stop at the rest area, I tried to keep the car running but it just died and then wouldn't restart. I am thankful that it didn't shred the belt out on the highway and strand us on the side of the road.

At this point, to be honest, I'm seriously considering just selling the car. I guess I'm a bit conflicted.

In arranging to have the car towed back to me I did talk to the shop/garage and they have run a compression check.

0 (zero) psi on all 5 cylinders.

I guess that's a 100% on that test. :)
