My thinking being it was running bad but just wouldn't restart at the rest area. If the belt had slipped enough to cause damage I would probably expect it to have stopped dead on the highway.
When I did stop at the rest area, I tried to keep the car running but it just died and then wouldn't restart. I am thankful that it didn't shred the belt out on the highway and strand us on the side of the road.
At this point, to be honest, I'm seriously considering just selling the car. I guess I'm a bit conflicted.
