How to leak test P80 AC system?

I knew it was likely 1 of 2 things, but as the system has had some 'damage' I wanted to ensure I had system pressure still present first of shimming if needed was just a waste of time. If the evaporator was bad, I was not going to fix it and sell the car as is when the time came. Now I know the system pressure is good will take the time to shim the compressor, or at least check and shim as needed.

Engine bay is still warm from running errands today, but measured the gap anyway, and it is measuring at about 0.7mm, so adjustment needed.

Question is, I am assuming as the cable/zip ties are thicker than 0.2-0.3mm when you fir them they squish down and they do not give a 1 to 1 adjustment to the gap?

Mine also measure 0.7 and I put in one pink zip tie on each clutch finger, total of three.

I'll measure the zip tie thickness tomorrow since I'm too tired out having thrown all the millennials off my lawn tonight

Measured several up to about 8" long, and they are all 1.2mm, the exception is the smallest (4"?) which is 0.8mm

My pink ones are 0.6mm which were perfect for my 0.7 mm gap. Pm your address and I'll send you some.

Hoping to go and see a 05 XC90 2.5T AWD later this afternoon with about 100,000 miles on it. Will need some work as some servicing is needed since the current owner bought it 2.5 years ago. May need timing belt, PCV and filters/oil changes, but hard to find a lower mileage 2.5T around here. If it checks out and the history at the dealer (up until current owner bought it) then I have had the owner agree to take it to the dealer to have a pre-sale inspection done on it. The $200 CDN cost of the inspection is worth it as I know the driveline and suspension on these have their quirks.

Well had some time now to go out to re-check the gap as the engine bay is cool in the garage. The gap has widened now it is cold to 0.9mm so way past needing adjustment!

May need to go wider on the zip-ties after all, but it will be good to have the variety of widths of ties to find the right adjustment.
