Re: Torque Axle Nut
With a fine syringe that would be possible. Great thinking there!!

I have done that to prevent all the grease scooting out when trying to fit the boot clamps. You have to work the CV joint or the grease gets pressure locked in the joint.

Not for this, but I used a small tubing with a 20ml medical syringe to grease another item (forgot what it was). It is a slow process however, and it gets messy. And you can't do the same on the transmission side joint.precopster wrote: ↑21 Sep 2017, 06:50 With a fine syringe that would be possible. Great thinking there!!
What I have done with my CV joints, is using the tip of a cutting pliers to bend the 'u' portion of the Oetiker clamp open until the clamp released, then clean all the old grease inside and put about 1/4 cup of lithium/molybdenum grease

I then used a lighter Oetiker clamp to close the boot with some chinese clamp pliers because the original clamp is impossible to close back again.

Are you talking about changing CV grease as a routine maintenance task? I never have, but I could see you may consider it if the boots are long-lived. I have only changed out the CV grease when a boot has cracked.oragex wrote: ↑21 Sep 2017, 08:33 ...
