With that mileage a contributing factor may also be that the manifold/head mating surfaces may not be perfectly flat any more. As can also be the case when removing the head from the block, once you take it apart you may have trouble getting the gasket to seal back up properly without machining the surfaces.

An update on my issue. One of the bolts were missing and after replacing it everything seems to be fine. Let's see if it'll still be so after the 1000 km weekend drive I'm about to do.
