Question for the gurus: can engine wash cause no reverse?
- I happened to replace the REAR cam seals (were leaking oil).
- Took the car to self-serve car wash to clean the engine oil. I was careful not to direct water on electronics. I basically wash only the REAR side of the engine, near the firewall. But: can water get into some kind of PNP switch or the electrical connector, thus causing a "No Reverse" condition?
- Someone said in forum the Reverse is a mechanical thing, created by the cable moving to "Reverse" position w/o input from the TCM. Is that true?

Reverse should be a combo of a solenoid & safety/position (PNP) switch with the mechanical linkage on many transmissions. The bulletin above explains the testing for that issue. I'm unsure if that is the transmission you have however...
Best bet would be to get someone with VIDA to check the Transmission control module and see if it has some codes stored. Not all codes in the vehicle will necessarily cause a MIL.
