I'll check that out and make sure the cover isn't warped.

I actually did some research on Volvospeed, and the NA cams are usable on the LPT motors. There are a couple people over there running them. All it takes is some timing adjustments. Gains are similar to a T5 according to those who are running them, although I don't have any proof backing that statement up.

Plus I'd rather do the front seals anyway while I have everything apart. My cousin's S70 had a massive blowout in the middle of nowhere on the way back from Florida back in July. Turned an 8 hour drive into 21 hours. It'll cost less than $15 for both and takes an extra 15 minutes, I'd rather know it's taken care of before I have another one of those experiences.

$15, Where are you getting that deal. 15 Minutes, you work a lot faster than me.

A tune would be a lot more useful and a lot less headache.

I would do the tune as well, but I want the engine to be able to breathe better all around. I want to keep this "build" modest, and my plans for the motor include the N/A cams, 16t, Snabb intake pipe, iPd CBV, blue injectors, and probably one or two other things I'm forgetting.
My logic with installing the N/A cams is that my spark plug tube seals need to be done anyway, so I might as well swap the cams while I'm in there considering it's literally no extra work, aside from adjusting the timing afterwards. Going by what I've read, they will work just fine.

As for 15 minutes, my cousin and I changed the front seals on his other S70 that he bought back in October. That took about 30-45 altogether, 15 once the timing belt was off. The only reason it took that long was because he wanted to lock the cams, which I didn't see the need for considering the car wasn't VVT.

Anyway, I got the remains of the bolt out (surprisingly easily) and replaced it today. New tensioner expected Saturday, I'll update this thread if that solves my problem.

All that work and you will still be looking at the rear window of my T5, I'll waggle my wiper at you...if my wiring harness isn't broken again.

We'll see about that
As long as I don't need to unlock my tailgate with the key, mine works right now.

Negative. With 16T and blues his car will accept a stock T5 ECU as a straight drop-in. Putting the cars at least side by side, even with your extra pedal.

Black cars are documented to be faster. All of my Volvos are black now after I wrecked the Nautic Blue 850 many years ago. The 427 V70 is a nice one.

Installed the new tensioner Sunday morning. There still seems to be some noise, but the belt is now tracking straight as far as I can tell. It's even on the tensioner pulley now, it's not hanging over the edge anymore.
The noise I was hearing got better after removing the timing cover again, but I think the cover is damaged/warped. As for the whining sound now, I have no clue what it is. Maybe I'm just paranoid and thinking I'm hearing something on top of the oil cooler t-stat moaning, but it sounds like a pulley.
I think the next move will be to replace the idler, because it makes some noise when I spin it by hand. Otherwise, is the power steering pulley a common thing to go out? It almost looks like it's wobbling, but I can't really tell.
