Our car is nicknamed the TARDIS. Because it's blue, boxy, feels bigger on the inside, and because, like the TARDIS, I think if we could talk to it, it would have a very similar personality:abscate wrote: ↑27 Feb 2018, 13:20By proxy....RickHaleParker wrote: ↑27 Feb 2018, 13:06 prwoods car was just reminding him it wanted attention after a big cross country trip.

Before panicking, follow what the guys have said.
The 'O' rings may have an issue, but typically if it affects cylinder #2 and #3 it is one of 2 things where the oil is coming from as the oil is high up.
The 2 culprits are:
1) Oil seal on the oil filler cap. Make sure you use a decent one like the Volvo ones as many of the aftermarket ones are either too thin or have a higher silicon content and don't last. If the current seal is hard and solid this is probably the source of the oil.
2) 2nd issue I have had is the breather pipe from the PCV catch tank coming loose at the top where it mounts into the cylinder head between cylinder #2 and #3. It can look like it is sitting fine but if you gently tug on it it may come loose. This is because the hose has gone hard and the rubber shrinks. Fitting a screw type pipe clamp may help in the short term but points to a bigger issue.
These 2 items can be made worse by the PCV system being blocked and pressuring the engine block and the pressure has to go somewhere or it will blow out your engine seals. As recommended earlier do the rubber glove test by placing a rubber or latex glove over the oil filler with the cap removed. Start the engine and see if the glove inflates. If it does or does not, have someone press the gas peddle and see if it then inflates. If it inflates in either condition it need the PCV system serviced ASAP. You can wrap a cloth around the dipstick tube and pull the dipstick slightly out do it can allow the crankcase pressure to escape. You may get an oil smell in the cabin from this, but it is better than blowing the cam or crankshaft seals out. But get the service done ASAP.
If none of these is the case it may be the 'O' ring tube seals blown.
To remove the oil if you have not already pulled the plugs, try a turkey baster with a small tube attached to try and draw as much out as possible. One the plugs have been pulled, clean the spark plug tubes and good to go.
Neil.
