What is considered "thin oil"? Like a can of 3 in 1 oil?

Concerning the cleaning of the throttle body, what is "Clean with hexanes"? Sorry I am new to some of these parts. I want to do it myself but need some wisdom from you guys.

You clean a throttle body with 'throttle body cleaner'

CRC is the 'standard brand' you will find in your FLAPS (friendly local auto parts store)

The actual cleaner is a blend of hexanes, or 6 Carbon part of gasoline. Its volatile and bad for you, so do it in fresh air and wear gloves.

By "thin oil" (and I do apologize for such vagueness) I was thinking of a few drops of 3 in 1 or penetrating oil.

I experienced some roughness upon removal of the plugs in my first V70. The 2 or 3 carefully landed drops of oil and a little working let the plugs turn out smoothly. Also, I was trying to differentiate between a few drops vs pouring ounces of oil down the well.

When you remove your first plug it may indeed be smooth going. If it howls and chatters as you turn your wrench, decide then.

If you want to start a small war, open a discussion of "clean spark plug threads" vs "anti-seized spark plug threads" then step back.

Also try not to get it on your face/eyes, the spray jet may bounce off a surface. These carburetor cleaners have nasty ingredients that should not be inhaled at least not in a liquid form

I managed to clean the throttle body just with a clean and wet (water) piece of cloth without lint, it seems good enough, just clean everything on both sides

Main ingredient in CRC is Acetone 75- 85%, $6.00+ for 12 fl oz. Just skip the marketing BS and price gouging and use pure Acetone. When I need to clean something, I go to the cosmetics section of Walmart and get a bottle of ONYX Professional 100% pure acetone nail polish remover, $2.50 for 16 fl oz. Use a rag, brush or spray bottle to apply and pocket the savings.

Acetone is considered to be biological safe in normal use, it is the other stuff in the witch's brew that is the problem.

Did I mix up MAF and throttle body cleaner?

I’ll check labels in morning.

Acetone is also bad stuff with a link to cataracts. Fresh air for that too.

Both are extremely flammable as well.

I have used acetone to try cleaning an injector, but it damaged the injector. Not saying it's bad, but just my experience

Full strength Acetone can damage the coil insulation and internal seals. The same can be said of full strength Seafoam and other harsh chemicals.

You got to watch what you use on plastics and rubber.

Yes, soaked it. Fortunately only one injector, the car was barely driving
