Re: 08 3.2 AWD Cransk but no start (Video included)
I haven't yet, this weekend i'm going to hit it hard again. I'm going to get vida back out and see if I can figure out how to test with it. I did attempt to start it tonight after charging the battery, I tried to crank it twice and then let it rest then once more. The tach stays at zero but occasionally jumps up to 250-500 rpm . The pump is sending fuel, it has a new fuel filter and new plugs. I do need to check pressure at the fuel rail. I still feel like something else is causing it not to fire (sensors). Its unreal, the check engine light is on but vida or an OBD reader isn't saying anything. All that is known is an anomaly happened. I replaced both camshaft sensors to no avail, although i am at least getting some activity out of the tach.

I can only get vida running on a Win7VM within win10. So i have to lug my tower and monitor out side...
back out here again this afternoon, I tried to find anywhere in vida to test the coils. Still not getting DTCs when I try to start the car in vida. it did give me that first DTC again, RPM too low, I tried to start the fuel pump test in vida but my car needs an update that is preventing me from running the test. I did unscrew the valve on the fuel rail after I put the key in position II, NO fuel came out, just a pfft of air. I did attempt to start it with failure.
Heres some possibly relevant or irrelevant information. At this point I'm thinking I may need to have it towed to a professional.

I got it to run today, but there is still a problem. Got a generic ODB code P0087 Fuel Rail/ System Pressure - Too Low Bank 1.
Didn't have Vida hooked up. Will do that tomorrow.
Heres a short video

I finally got it turned around in my driveway but had junk blocking the garage, cleared the garage enough to fit it in and now it wont start again. so its still stuck outside. My driveway is fairly steep, the fuel pump does pump fuel but i'm not sure of the pressure. I just need the car in the garage so I can comfortably hook my dice unit to it. I have access to the garage and have the USB wire through the wall into my office connected directly to my PC. If i use any kind of USB extenders vida can't read the dice unit. It reads it most of the time but it has crashed in the middle of connecting to the car computer and that scares me to death. But I also can't stand lugging my PC and monitor outside every time I have to run diagnostics. I might try and get an old laptop and try and find a win7 pro key, but the only way I get vida to work is on a virtual machine within win10. I found the installer somewhere online and bought a dice unit. I'm still trying to learn the features of vida, but I also don't want to brick my xc90. I will get this beast in the garage without destroying it and run diagnostics on it again.
Firstly I need to change the fuel pressure sensor to rule that out. Then the to the fuel pump?

You can get it run directly in Windows 10, no VM required, better then on Window 7, read through this thread.

So i've spent more time trying to get vida working on other systems then actually working on the vehicle. So i will drag my tower back outside to test again this weekend., I got a fuel pressure gauge but cannot for the life of me figure out how to connect this thing. I know its a schrader valve on the fuel rail but the 100 connections that came with the kit dont seem to do the trick.
https://www.amazon.com/Detool-Pressure- ... sure+gauge
<<<That the kit I bought, its cheapy i know. I'm just desperate at this point this car has been sitting for a month now and I'm at my wits end. I still own $5500 on the vehicle and its killing me.

So I finally got to changing out the fuel pressure sensor and it wont start, exact same symptoms. At least I can rule that out. Now I'm not sure if the pump will engage while the fuel pressure sensor is removed, but I turned the key to position II and not a drop came out of the rail. I can't use that fuel pressure kit I bought from amazon unless I take off the engine mount to be able to use the gauge.
So I suppose I'll start looking for a fuel pump. In vida it shows two different part numbers for the pump...
2 Pump unit, complete 1.00 31261819
(CA), (US), (KR)
Pump unit, complete 1.00 31273510
EXC (CA), (KR), (US)
Not sure if there is a difference, does anyone know?

Thanks RickHaleParker for that explanation!! I'll have to order this next weekend and get it in the following week of delivery. I found a delphi for $230 seems to be the most inexpensive. It's raining outside right now and can't drag my PC to use vida (which I haven't run diagnostics on it since the start up) I just got win7pro on another laptop top with the right specs. I'll sift through that thread about it to try and get that running in the mean time.
