Won't a 02 5cyl have the 5 speed transmission that takes special fluid? Something like 3309 or equal? Have read so much on here about Toyota I think type 4 is supposed to be the cheapest? Would the Royal Purple be equivalent to the 3309? Guys please chime in as my Volvo uses Dextron III as with all the older 90's cars did so I lack first hand experience with the newer Japanese transmission oil requirements. I would hate to see her damage her car. June

Yes it take 0T4 or 3309. Its fully synthetic and Aisin Warner makes it, Aisin Warner makes a lot of Automatic transmissions for Volvo. Its cheaper than Mobile 1 or Toyota At4, FCPEURO.COM sells it. I'd stay away from Royal Purple unless your flushing your entire ATF system. Since you should stay with simple drain/fill you'd be better suited with one of the other brands recommended. RP is overpriced in my opinion but to each there own.June wrote: ↑18 Dec 2018, 16:37 Won't a 02 5cyl have the 5 speed transmission that takes special fluid? Something like 3309 or equal?
