Any tips on getting the black cover/cowl off for windscreen wiper recess without breaking the lugs? I guess they might be pretty brittle. Got lots of condensation on the inside of the windscreen so I'm hoping this is the culprit

Lift it first and look for leaves and junk under the cowl. Fog on the windshield this time of year is usually a failing heater core, a fairly easy job to do.

The cowl comes off quite easily. just remove the bolts and you can remove it (if my memory serves me well)

I've never removed it fully, but after undoing the screws, and one drain, I have not had an issue lifting up the corner for HVAC filter replacement on my 850. In fact, I'll be doing that to my S70 as soon as my IPD order gets here.... It's delayed and I'm hoping that doesn't mean the 2 gallons of Volvo coolant are no longer in their bottles.

Have you checked the roof?

I had this on my v70 (no roof rails)
The blanking plates for the roof rails were old and no longer weatherproof. This led to a dripping through the roof by the front door which I originally thought was door seals.

Whether you have roof rails or not I’d check these areas for a good seal.

I reapplied some diy blanks and silicone and all is now well.
