I never got the fixation on the FCP return thing. ChitownV, you seem to use FCP a lot and you always bring up the return capability "for any issue" in your posts on Swedespeed. IIRC, you did a coolant service on your 3.2 using their warranty return mechanism, were the parts broken outright or you just wanted to replace them under a scheduled proactive maintenance effort?

Do you send them your used oil and filters?

Yes you can, even original Volvo parts. You can read their policy on their website. They also posted pics of returns on their website.

I think nowadays the return gives a credit rather than refund, but there’s always more maintenance items to buy. To make it worth while, groups parts into one shipment.

So you're basically supporting the entirety of your vehicle maintenance lifecycle by buying a single set of parts and taking advantage of the part supplier's open warranty to support periodic replacement whether the returned component has failed or not. Interesting approach.

Yup. I get good life out of the parts and I believe that’s similar to how FCP states their policy (life of the part) because parts like filters, spark plugs, belts, and oil should be replaced before failure. That’s where I noticed they try keep their parts catalogue with quality parts. Sometimes they have lesser quality, but that’s usually due to high cost of an original or supply issues of the better aftermarket brand.

Here is a quick find for keyword "TPMS":
https://www.fcpeuro.com/Volvo-parts/XC9 ... ds=TPMS%20

...possible direction of wheel upgrade
  • tpms kit: 315Mhz
    rim: 20" x 8.5"
    wheel offset: +35
    hub bore ring: 67.1 <-> 73.1
    bolt pattern: 5x108
    tire: 265/45R20:
It is close to R-Design specification, but not exactly; what is possible on V8 sport?

You have VIDA and if you have access to a TPMS tool then get a sensor, open up the UEM window in VIDA, do a trigger and give it a try. If you see a serial number in the TPMS window in VIDA then you're good. The VDO SE10006 for sure will work, I prefer the metal stems myself so went with the SE10003 when it was $25 each. But I know there are tons more out there that'll work.
...being on the course of wheel upgrade; the local wheel & tire package guys are throwing-in a set of Purple Maxx sensor (315-443mHz); pre-programed which activates with drive-cycle aka Relearn - your thought?

No reason why not, the site- https://www.max-sensor.com/s/MAX-SENSOR ... 02022.xlsx has a vehicle coverage list which says it will (notes both 315 and 433 as applicable).

Ironically, this was asked about in a thread not too long ago. A link to look up the frequencies is also in the earlier thread.

The guy says, Purple Maxx is relatively advanced product in TPMS class. I'm working on my upgrade; meanwhile...

A drive with VIDA/DiCE -- after a RESET, it started to pull different IDs and corresponding pressure data at each box (not sure about wheel). The first three, 842-, remained constant, but the last four jumped from box to box (wheel to wheel); I can say with certainty, there were 4 different numbers present at one time. It is confusing at this first take.

FWIW: my laptop was powered by a 180W 12V to 110V inverter connected to cigarette lighter port in cargo area.

It does that and it’s more of a how frequent and consistent the ID #s are over time. I was getting IDs from other cars when I was driving and looking at VIDA. As long as the dash light turns off, then you are good.

The guys at the shop are selling, lol. Maybe they are better for them as they have the 2 common frequencies. But I it sounds like it will be good enough for your ownership of the XC90.
