For your '96 you should be able to use the "850 OBDII" app on your phone to clear it.

Used it once on my old '96 GLT and have used it on both of our current '97 850's.
'97 854 T5 - Manual Swap/M4.4/COP/NA cams/P2R Brakes/16T/ chassis bracing/ XC70 nose swap
'97 855 GLT - Hers. RN swap/16T/COP/VVT/exhaust/302s/Flashed M4.4/ chassis bracing/ 2 kid seats
'78 GLE - Waiting in the wings. Future whiteblock/T5 swap.

Hi,

Yeah i like to joke around a little.

Yes once you reset it it takes some miles and then it turns back on again to remind you to change the oil. That's kind of funny too when you think about it, but what is not funny is for my car the tool is about 100 bucks (USD) to reset it. Not funny. Ok, yeah, ok, that's funny too haha but quirky.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

The free way to solve the Service light hassle is to take out the bulb.

Hi,

Yes take out the bulb, if i could get to it that is :-)

Yes for testing the hood springs, and since my light comes on every time i start the car i have to test the springs every time i start the car. People stare in the Shop Rite parking lot all the time :-)

Make sure you use Volvo Beep and not aftermarket.

This app works wonders with our cars :

You can reset the Service Light and even set the amount of km/miles between the reminding function.

Sure... if it would ever connect to anything at all. Nothing in that app works what so ever, and it's paid. Even my iPhone and OBDFacile works better, and that only thinks it's talking to the TCM. But it connects to the car, somewhat, at least, and knows what kind of device it's talking to. Unlike that 850 OBD-II thing.
