Wouldn't you want this to be a fused connection of some kind? I may tackle this over the weekend (as my welder friend is out until next week so the dreaded bolt must wait)

You definitely have to fuse it, I was speaking generically about running it from battery vs the REM

Fuse, insulate, vibration protect, chafe protect - all come under the moniker of wiring professionally.

Yeah, but you get everything the way it was intended by the manufacturer if you go for original equipment (and it's cheap if you buy it used). On the 07, the outlet goes to fuse F8 btw, not the shunt. If the cable is present, it could not be easier nor safer and the job will be indistinguishable from a factory fitted outlet.
Look for the T-shaped, or L-shaped connector, I don't recall exactly. You can't miss it, there's not really much cable spaghetti behind that panel.
